Tabatière en verre peint à l’intérieur d’un décor polychrome montrant sur une face un décor de trois éventails ornés d une calligraphie, le second d’un canard sur un étang et le dernier d’un sage assis sur un rocher sous un pin. Au revers dans quatre cartouches arrondis deux calligraphies et deux illustrations : un paysage de montagnes et des lotus et insectes.
Signée sur cette face Ma Shaoxuan et datée 1904.
Ma Shaoxuan (1867-1939) était l’un des artistes les plus techniquement accomplis de l’école dite de Pékin, fondée par Zhou Leyuan et comprenant d’autres artistes de premier plan, tels que Ding Erzhong, Ye Zhongsan et Ziyizi.
