Le kogaï hitsu ana (orifice de la tsuba dans lequel passe le manche du kogai) et le kozuka hitsu ana (orifice de la tsuba pour faire passer le manche du kozuka) ont été obturés à l’aide d’un morceau de shakudo.
Le décor représente Izanagi et Izanami (Divinités primitives Shintoïstes frère et sœur qui ont créé l’archipel Japonais) sur un pont flottant du ciel alors qu’un hochequeue (oiseau) les observe d’en bas.
Ils tiennent la lance merveilleuse donnée par les autres dieux. Izanagi, après avoir remué à l’aide de cette lance la masse sombre qui s’étendait sous le pont flottant, fit alors sortir du bout de la lame quelques gouttes qui tombèrent et se transformèrent en île.

C’est ainsi que fut créé Ono-Goro-Shima. Ils créeront de la même manière beaucoup d’autres îles pour former tout un archipel. Ainsi naquit le Japon.
